John and his wife, Barbara, moved to Strasburg in
1998. John and Barbara come to the Shenandoah
Valley for same reasons that people have been
coming here for centuries: the physical beauty,
the rich history and cultural heritage, and a
desire to become serious gardeners.
John joined Historic Properties in April, 2001
after a successful 30-year business career in
finance and planning. John enjoys old houses no
matter how big or small and no matter whether they
are brick, log, stone or frame. His interest and
knowledge of old houses, combined with his
understanding of local geography and history allow
John to provide highly customized services to his
clients. John and Barbara purchased and live in a
renovated 19th century schoolhouse and know the
joy that comes from owning historic property.
John is President of the Strasburg Museum and
an active member of the Shenandoah County
Historical Society. In addition to local history,
architecture and gardening, his interests include
antique furniture, Valley pottery, Virginia
longrifles and bass fishing in the North Fork of
the Shenandoah River.
A lifelong Virginian, John has degrees in
Statistics and Business from Virginia Tech and the
University of Richmond.
